Grace

I can’t quite put my finger on why I like this picture so much. Technically speaking, it’s kinda flat and lacking on sharpness. The kind of pictures you get when shooting wide-open, 1/25 shutterspeed under shitty lighting, all of it coming from the wrong direction in a VFW Lodge. And oh yeah, you can see that my thousand-dollar prime vignettes like a five-buck-whore at f/1.4.
But yet, it just keeps banging around in my head, “what pictures do i like the best?” “oh yeah, the barefoot girl in the plaid dress and the shoes cast off in the corner is one of them.” And why do I suppose I like it so much… the slow blur of the a graceful girl bringing her hands and feet together in a classical ballernia pose, her feet freed of the tryanny of ill-fitting shoes and that stray lock of hair falling down her face? and yeah.. the vignetting adds character here, actually.
well anyway, this here is one of my favorites. i’ll be sharing more…

def one of my faves too.. quite beautiful actually.
It’s very Arbus-ish in my opinion. The blandness of the background makes both the girl and shoe stand out, and it’s one of those pictures that makes kind of scratch your head a bit and wonder what’s going on in that little girl’s head.
Good work Timmy!
