The Illusion of Dreams

into_the_dark-2.jpg

To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there’s the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there’s the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;

Posting at 5 A.M.

A rogue mosquito in my room managed to tag me a good six, seven times before I woke up to a bout of furious stratching. Lying awake for 20 minutes before locating and killing the offender, I’m now wide awake.

SO - I took a look at the pictures I took in the late hours of last night with Hui over near the Old Post Office and the Reagan building. Here are the better ones of the bunch.

Running Log

Most difficult run to date. A too-fast start, the sweltering afternoon sun, and two days of late-night partying and not enough sleep caught up with me at mile three. I begged to cut the run short, do a six-mile. But JJ forced me to keep putting my foot ahead of the other. If we had to walk it, we would walk, but there would be no changes to the flight plan. I needed a lot of walks - which destroyed any hope of a decent time. But we finished it, dammit.
Today’s route: 7.8mi, 1hour 28min.

Running Log

After-work, late spring, cool evening, easy-going jog.

Today’s Route: 4.2mi, 40min 22sec.

Sometimes I lie awake at night, and this is what I see

The importance of 2/10th of a mile…

I was playing around with my latest toy, the gmap-pedometer, plotting out some future running routes when I noted that by switching to satellite view, I could zoom in even closer. Close enough to see the sidewalks and paths that I normally run on.

Reviewing one of my older routes, the 6.6-mile one I did two weeks ago, I saw that I had only rougly plotted out the route I took, which failed to account for the little turns and side-runs that I took along the route. I got to wondering if I more accurately plotted out my route, at maximum zoom level, following the exact path I took, how much of a difference would there be?

About 2/10th of a mile. 6.8-miles.

Running Log

Another 3-miler this morning.

Today’s Route: 3.1 miles, 29m 10s.

Pardon the Dust

I dont need to say that the old theme really sucked. Ran across this new theme.. there’s certain stuff I’m going to tweak, but it’ll be coming along…

Running Log

Got a new watch. So now will have much more accurate times.

Today’s route: 6.1 miles. 55m 17s.
