45 Days Left - The Countdown
I was wondering how many days left I had before the Great Move. So I counted it off on the iphone calendar and it came out to 45 days left.
That seemed like a nice, round number. So I thought I’d go and blog about it. I can speak more freely about my plans now that everyone in the workplace knows about me leaving.
I’m getting really excited about this. Its such a scary and exhilirating feeling at the same time. I’m leaving a city that I have come to know very well, and many friends that I hold close to my heart, and heading out somewhere with no real plan or goal, but just to “get out there”, the final destination being San Francisco sometime next year.
Plans keep shifting, but the general idea was that I’d head back to Minnesota to spend some time with my family through the holidays - then in January, I’ll load up the car again and drive out to Bishop, California. I’ve climbed there twice in the past and love it there. But will I enjoy living there? I want to spend three, four months out there, doing nothing but work, climb and photography.
Then once the warm weather sets in at Bishop and it gets too hot to climb - I’ll embark on the final leg of my westward push to San Francisco. And there… things will get weird!
Running Log (Tuesday Night Epic)
Jeremy joined me again tonight. Not our best pace, but I went further than I’ve ever went, so that’s a good thing. I’ll improve on the pace next time. After I got home, I was limping around like a 90-year old man.
Today’s route: 14.2 miles, 2 hr 21 min.
Running Log
Worst ever run. I started off too fast, and then just got all frustrated with the stitches on my side and ended up walking a lot.
Today’s route: 3.5 miles (est), 36 min. 40 sec.
Running Log
Another run to Mr. Awakening and back. Jeremy joined me on this fine night.
Today’s route: 11.1 miles, 1 hr. 35 min. (I forgot to start my watch until 0.9 miles into the run).
Life at 200mm

Having spent the last 48 hours with the Canon EF 70-200 2.8 L IS mounted to my 5D, I’ve started going through the first batch of photos.
What immediately struck me at the start was the bokeh. This lens delivers some of the best bokeh I’ve ever seen, just creamy smooth bokeh that melts away the background like watercolors. And the color, contrast is rather incredible, I would even go as far to say that it rivals the 35mm 1.4L - which I consider the benchmark lens for color and contrast.
See more of my first shots here.
