Miscellanous Things
I don’t have anything specific to write about, so I’m just gonna cut loose a pseudo-random list of what’s going on.
- I’m working out of a coffeehouse. 8 hour days, sipping coffee and watching people come and go.
- This coffeehouse is next to the MCAD (art school). The patrons here are of the artistic/boehemian type.
- We’re also right in the middle of Koreatown. There are at least 10 korean, vietnamese and malaysian restaurants within a block from here.
- There’s a family sitting at the bench ahead of me. The father is tattooed, pierced and has one hell of a rat tail. He’s reading a newspaper with his wife/girlfriend, while his young son sits opposite him, reading a novel.
- I joined a gym yesterday. After two years of working out at Results, I’ve become spoiled. The gym wants to charge me $1.50 for towel rental. Sad panda.
- I woke up this morning feeling like it should be friday. It’s only wednesday.
- I drive a lot more.
- I walk a lot less.
- I’ve noticed quite a few people here have tattoo designs that incorporate the outline of the state of Minnesota.
- I miss the convinence of living three blocks away from Whole Foods. I found a natural food co-op about a mile up from here called The Wedge. The food selection is actually quite more diverse than Whole Foods, and it has a more local, including local produce/products feel. I thought WF was expensive until I checked out here…
- I ran a mile yesterday. It felt great, and I hope to start running regularly again.
- I’m nearly done with the photo edits from my night with the Four (Five, actually) Ladies.
- I want a Leica M8 and a Noctilux.
- I’m glad I’m home. I miss D.C. in some ways, but I’m also glad I’ve moved on. It should have happened sooner.

And you have more time arguing arcane points of the law with a pseudo-lawyer. I oughta send you a bill.
I wonder if Leica things are all worth it. It’s always getting rave reviews and so forth, so why is it still so expensive if it were in high demand? Is there a cheaper, more basic version? I’m debating on whether or not to get a 40D or wait a bit more to get a 5D? What’s your view on full frame? I don’t find myself thinking, “Damn, only if I had a 5D” but yet tempted to get one.
haha, yeah, i dont know if a leica is worth it either. i guess i should actually test it out before i drop all that moola on it? you know me. i’m a gadget-whore and love buying new, shiny things.
there’s a lot of good deals on the 5D right now. and there should be a 5D II coming along ..
since you already have a 30D, i would suggest you get a 5D or the next 5D and see for yourself the difference. i know it was a big difference for me…
the woman i worked with on wedding photos last year, she had a 20D, then asked me the same question you asked me just now. i told her to go for it and get a 5D. was not even a week after that - when she emails me saying “OMG why did I wait so long to get a 5D??”
too bad we dont live in same city. i would gladly loan you mine for a short time.
