78 in a 55

Yeah.  I got busted.  I’m pissed.  Not because I have to pay $141.00, but because I got caught. :p

I presume you don’t have a court date. In Virginia, if you get caught driving more than 20mph above the limit, this is automatically considered “Reckless Driving” and you have a court date. No way out of this.

Yes, I had a court date before, and apparently, I was a good date and I got the charges dropped. Twice. My record remains spotless. ;-)

no court date. the cop wrote in 74 on the ticket, so my fine would be $141 instead of $200+.

im still trying to decide if i should contest the ticket. but given that i know i WAS probably going 78 at some point, and that ill be giving up the car when I get into SF, it may not be worth arguing about, since any insurance premium increase will be a very short-term thing to deal with…

Cop just wanna you out of *bleeping*-cold Minnesota :-D Just dump the car in a lake and then head to SF.

Go to court to “contest” it then pay off the ticket there …that way it stays off your record. By the way, if you go to court, please do not have Beth Aaron as your interpreter, she’s horrible.
