Photo Drag from the Happys
After work today, I headed out to the Happys to do some photos. I wanted to give y’all an idea of what it really looks like out here in the Sierra high plains. Bishop is nestled in a valley surrounded by 13,000+” peaks.
Not a whole lot of trees can scratch out a existence. Some of them just give up and you end up with some really interesting results.
The river below is owned by the city of Los Angeles. Five hours away. No touching their water.
I ran into this party of climbers at the Action Figure cave. The guy below is feeling out the crux move for Cholos (V9). It looks like a really awesome problem and I’ll be back one day soon to try it out.
Again, Cholos. You start off with two pretty good holds and have to throw to a three finger pocket that doesn’t give you a lot to work with, as this guy found out. He was on the ground one second after this picture.
To the right of Cholos is the namesake Action Figure (V6) which starts off on a couple good pocket climbs and climaxes with a throw to a one, or two finger pocket (depending on how big your fingers are) and a throw off that pocket to a good jug. You’re home free after that.
Giving Cholo another try. Nobody was able to send it that day.
And finally. Here’s a picture of a bull with only one horn. Moo.

Awesome pictures~
Quite a rock challenge! Great pics, as usual!
Hey–I forget what part of the country you’re in now, but it looks familiar. I have driven through 38 states. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your pics and the captions that go with them. I feel like I’m there traveling with you, without having to endure the long ride. Thanks so much!
Thats one special bull with one horn. He deserves a name. I shall thee name him Unihorny.
Wow, amazing photos… reminds me a bit of Montana where my husband’s family lives (Joilet, MT.)
#5 “Annonymous” is me… Karen. I forgot to type myself, ha.
