P-Town Photo Roll

Landing in Boston just before nightfall, we picked up our rental car and headed out to the very tip of that thin strip of land which curls away from mainland Massachusetts.

The morning greeted us with brilliant sunshine and the ever familiar smell of summer ocean air. Taking a short jaunt from the house we found ourselves in the busy commercial street, adored with small bistros, art galleries and shops peddling the typical tourist fare like t-shirts and mugs.

My new Ray-Bans drew a comment from a enormous lady in a painted sunflower hat. She inquired whether they were “old”. When I replied that I’d just bought them last week, she pointed to her own pair of Ray-Bans and smiled, “got ‘em in 1962.”

Elise with her most adorable son, Sam posing for a little family picture.

P-Town is every bit the coastal harbor town. There are more boats than cars here.

And to serve up my own reproduction of the lighthouse that appears on countless of postcards originating from Cape Cod….

Looks like a great place to visit! Did you rent a house?
damn u. i want to visit that cape cod… maybe saigon, lisa and i should visit there next year in our mini cooper.
lol about your drink reminded me of x-mas party at kritine’s home. did you both make it to drink all? thank god that your camera has the autofocusto do the dirty work for you so you don’t need to bother adjusting.
these people are cool! so your pictures are still cool.
“got ‘em in 1962.” how old she is in person?
Ya know better than to ask a woman her age…:)
ann c,
oh, excuse my manner. i don’t expect tim to ask a woman her age because he is not that dumb. he has more class than i do.
but… i don’t believe either to assume or to jump the conclusion without ask anyone first.
i’m sorry if age has offended you or women as negative message in some way. i agree with your comment, “Ya know better than to ask a woman her age…:)” cuz i have wife. we have learned a lot from each other.
for me, if that a enormous lady in a painted sunflower hat is old enough to “got ‘em in 1962.” i consider her the wise lady and luckest lady to live a life to its fullest her life. that is why i asked tim out of my curious.
it perhaps could be the gift from her friend or family if she is about our same age. there could be many possible logics. tim is the one who had seen her but again, it is not important question for him to answer it to me anyway. again, you don’t know me enough. he knows me enough.
ok ok everyone! lets keep things peaceful on this blog.
the enormous lady was at the age where most likely had bought them when she was a young lady in her twenties..
hey tim,
you don’t have to answer my question. i always love you as you are. forgive me if i cause chao in your blog. wow, she is damn luckest.
aww, reminds me of my hometown, Nantucket. I sure do miss those days when everything was innocent and pure; with the limits of life ending at the sea.
Amazing photos; hope to visit the cape again someday soon.
cuong,
That was a teaser I threw in there! Obviously the lady in question was much older that our redoubt Tim here. Good thing the RayBans were the thing she connected to though– they’re still classics.
I’ll be in New England early this fall, with the leaves changing color. So this is a good preview, Tim!
try them cranberries, Ann!
