Year of the Miles
Oct 27th
This is going to have to be a multipart post, to catch up on all that’s been going on since my last post about the Folsom Street Fair.
This year is winding down and I’ve been reflecting on all thats happened. I’ve criss-crossed the country so many times I’m like wondering just how many miles I’ve racked up.
Let see…
(technically 2007, but I consider it part of the overall traveling)
November 2007 – Left DC, made a straight shot to Minneapolis. 1200 miles driving.
January 2008 – Drove from MN to Bishop taking a long detour along I-10. 3600 miles driving.
March 2008 – Bishop to Las Vegas, 300 mile drive. Flew 3200 miles to D.C. Flew 3200 miles back. Drove 300 miles back to Bishop.
May 2008 – Left Bishop and headed back to Minneapolis. 1900 miles driving.
June 2008 – Drove to San Francisco with my aunt in her rental car. 2100 miles.
July 2008 – Flew from San Francisco to Boston. 3200 miles there. 3200 miles back.
August 2008 – Flew 1900 miles to Minneapolis to pick up my truck. Drove 1900 miles back.
October 2008 – Flew 3200 miles from San Francisco to D.C. 200 miles via train to NYC. 200 miles back. Flying back to San Francisco this Thursday will be another 3200 miles.
So when I get back into San Francisco on October 30th, I’ll have drove, flown, train’ed approximately 32,600 miles in the span of one year.
Do I get to claim an IRS deduction on all that?
